PRESS: Official sees certification of MC-21 planes in Russia by ‘21

MOSCOW, Nov 28 (PRIME) -- Certificates for new MC-21 passenger planes are expected to be provided by the end of 2020 in Russia and in 2021 in Europe, Alexander Neradko, head of the Federal Air Transport Agency, told Kommersant business daily in an interview released on Thursday.

“Large-scale work is being held on certification in Russia and in EASA of the MC-21 aircraft and the PD-14 engine for it, including taking into account the tasks of import substitution. PD-14 received a certificate from the Federal Air Transport Agency in the autumn of 2018, the issuance of the certificate for MC-21 is planned until the end of 2020.”

“The target dates for engine and aircraft certification in Europe are 2020 and 2021, respectively. These terms are quite comparable with the certification dates carried out by our predecessors in EASA, such as the SSJ100 aircraft, which took six and a half years,” Neradko said.

Separately, Neradko said that the agency expects that works to launch a third runway and modernize an apron to the new terminal at Domodedovo airport will be completed in 2020.
